Incisional (FUT)

2323.jpg

FUT, or Follicular Unit Transplantation, is a traditional yet effective hair restoration technique. Often referred to as the "strip method," this procedure involves the removal of a thin strip of scalp from the donor area, which is then dissected into individual follicular units for transplantation. Known for its efficiency and ability to cover large areas of hair loss, FUT remains a popular choice for many patients.

Pre- and Post-Treatment Guidelines

Before treatment

Discontinue blood-thinning medications such as aspirin and ibuprofen, along with supplements like vitamin E and omega-3, at least 7–10 days before the procedure. Avoid smoking for one week and alcohol for three days before surgery to enhance healing. Wash your hair thoroughly the day before surgery, but do not use any styling products on the day of the procedure. Wear loose, comfortable clothing, preferably a button-down shirt, to avoid disturbing the surgical site. Stay well-hydrated and eat a light meal on the morning of surgery to prepare your body.

After treatment

Keep the donor and recipient areas clean by following your doctor's specific washing instructions, usually starting 48 hours post-surgery. Avoid strenuous activities, exercise, and heavy lifting for at least 10–14 days to prevent stress on the sutured area. Protect your scalp from direct sunlight by wearing a loose hat and avoid smoking or alcohol for at least two weeks to promote healing. Refrain from scratching or picking at the surgical site to prevent scarring. Take prescribed medications as directed and attend follow-up visits to monitor your healing and suture removal, typically 10–14 days after the procedure.
